Thermage is FDA cleared for the non-invasive treatment of wrinkles, including the upper and lower eyelids and the temporary improvement in the appearance of cellulite.

How Thermage CPT works:

Thermage uses radiofrequency technology to heat the deepest layers of your skin to help tighten existing collagen and stimulate your bodyÕs natural renewal of collagen. This creates subtle, natural looking results like smoother skin, softened wrinkles and lines and an overall younger looking appearance.

Dr. Stacy offers the complete suite of Thermage treatments in the Bellevue and Seattle area, including:

• Eyes by Thermage: a non-invasive treatment designed for smoothing and tightening the skin of the upper eyelid, Eyes by Thermage takes about one hour and requires no downtime.


• Hands by Thermage: a single-treatment, non-invasive procedure that helps smooth and tighten the skin on your hands without surgery or injections, and little to no downtime. Thermage treatments tighten existing collagen and stimulate new collagen growth for hands that look noticeably younger and more luminous. Results vary from subtle to dramatic. Generally improvements are immediately visible and continue for up to six months. Results are long lasting depending on your skin condition and the aging process.


• Thermage Body Shape: Body Shape is more powerful than Body by Thermage and allows Dr. Stacy to achieve more contouring effects. Body Shape is ideal for both men and women who are not significantly overweight and are looking to help firm sagging skin and reduce unwanted bulges that dieting and exercise alone cannot seem to change. Results vary from subtle to dramatic. Generally, some improvement is immediately visible and continues for up to six months. How long has Thermage been available?

The Thermage device received clearance from the FDA in July 2002 and has been available in selected physician offices since then. Dr. Stacy added Thermage to her cosmetic practice in [YEAR] and quickly became a leader in the technology.

How does it work?

A handpiece with a smooth, flat tip delivers radiofrequency energy, in the form of heat into the skin. This causes immediate tightening of collagen and then new collagen will form over time, resulting in additional tightening.

How long does each treatment take?

Including time to prepare your skin, the procedure will usually take 20 minutes to two hours depending on the size of the area treated.

What kind of results can I expect?

Your skin will look smoother and more youthful as the tighter underlying collagen offers better support.

How soon will I see results?

Most individuals see results gradually within 2-6 months; however some patients see results immediately, but we choose not to overpromise.

How long will the results last?

The Thermage procedure causes an immediate tightening of the collagen structure with additional tightening over time. Unpublished reports by experienced physicians indicate that results may last 2 years or longer depending on the patient's natural aging process.

How many treatments will I need?

It typically takes just 1 treatment to accomplish a nice effect. However, some patients may choose to have a second treatment to obtain additional tightening. The skin will continue to improve over a six-month time period as new collagen is formed.

What will I look like immediately after the procedure? Can I go right back to work?

There is no special care needed after treatment and most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment. Redness and/or minor swelling may occur but it should disappear quickly.

Does it hurt?

When the energy is applied, you'll feel an intense but brief heating sensation. To protect the surface of your skin and keep you comfortable a cooling spray is delivered before, during and after each application of energy.

Does Dr. Stacy or the nurse perform the procedure?

Our staff has been extensively trained on Thermage technology and protocols by the manufacturer. In our office the procedure is performed exclusively by Dr. Stacy.

Can I have Thermage instead of a facelift?

Thermage can definitely tighten skin but it won't provide the dramatic results of a surgical facelift.  If you would like modest tightening of your skin without surgery then Thermage may be right for you.  Dr. Stacy would be happy to discuss the different approaches with you during your free consultation.

Can I avoid other cosmetic procedures if I do this?

Thermage is in a class of its own. Just as no other non-surgical procedure can tighten skin, Thermage does not accomplish what other procedures can do. Dr. Stacy can give you the information you need to decide on an approach that makes sense for you.

Is Thermage safe?

The Thermage procedure is very safe. Of course, as with any procedure there's some risk and Dr. Stacy can discuss this with you during your free consultation.
